Bourbon Curing – Our Traditional Process for Premium Vanilla

At Vanilla Royal Trade, we use the Bourbon curing method to ensure our vanilla beans develop their rich aroma, deep flavor, and premium quality. This process includes the following steps:

1️⃣ Hand-Harvesting – Only fully mature, high-quality green vanilla beans are carefully picked by hand.

2️⃣ Blanching – The beans are briefly dipped in hot water to stop maturation and activate natural enzymes.

3️⃣ Sweating – The beans are wrapped in wool blankets and placed in wooden boxes, where heat and humidity trigger enzymatic reactions, deepening their aroma and color.

4️⃣ Sun-Drying – Over several weeks, the beans are carefully laid out in the sun during the day and stored in wooden boxes at night to develop their signature texture and fragrance.

5️⃣ Conditioning – The beans are then stored in breathable containers for several months, allowing their flavors to fully mature.

6️⃣ Quality Control & Sorting – Each bean is meticulously inspected, graded, and sorted by hand to ensure only the finest vanilla reaches our customers.
